The Book of Being Nice at Recess

By. Tuleen

Mrs.Wold's 1st Grade Class

When someone is BULLYING you tell a person you trust, or solve it by ignoring the person. Just walk away. “See how simple that is.”

If the person does not stop TELL THEM to stop. (Make sure to be nice when you say it.)

If it is a small problem you can fix it by walking away or telling them to stop.

If they interrupt your game tell them to stop or invite them to play with you.

If a ball was rolling and you picked it up but someone said it was theirs, then give it to them.

Brave
By. Siena B.
Mrs. Wooldridge’s 1st Grade Class

Brave is when you go on the monkey bars even, if you did it before and failed.  You keep on trying and keep on trying until you get it. When you climb a really tall tree you have to be brave because it may seem high up. Being brave is standing up for yourself when a bully is next to you. When you are riding a bike and if you fall off, you have to be brave and try again.

The Book of Being Respectful
By Tuleen
Mrs. Wold’s Class
If you want to be respectful you should not talk when should not be talking. What if you were giving a speech and someone was saying blah blah blah and talking.

If you were reading it would be nice to sit away from people you would be tempted to talk to.

Don’t call other people names. When someone is working don’t disturb them.

Don’t laugh at people.

The Book of Braveness!
By. Tuleen
Mrs. Wold’s 1st Grade Class

Chapter 1

Do you remember your first time ever riding your bike without training wheels? I bet it was a bit scary, yikes! You just have to keep practicing until you just get to that point! Like me, I was so impressed when I saw other people riding bikes without training wheels! So my dad told me, learn to ride my bike and do you know what, I said…. Fine it’s a deal.

Chapter 2

Once I had a wiggly tooth. I kept wiggling it, but one day my friend hurt me on accident which I am happy about, because it got wigglier and I pulled it out but I had the top tooth pulled out. I also have another wiggly tooth and it was a bloody tooth at school, so we will have to wait for that to pop out!

Chapter 3

Do you remember the first day of first grade? I was brave enough to go to first grade. Until I got used to it, and got to best friends, and lots more. So I was brave and I had a really nice teacher named Mrs Wold, now I like first grade! I love first grade with my friends and teachers thanks to Mrs Wold’s.

Thanks for Reading my Book!
Being brave is the right thing to do☺!

Friendship

Paper… By Hannah

One day my friend Kylie and I were helping our teacher by color coding the paper stacks. We worked for 3 day with paper cuts and sore arms, finally we were done!
We walked over with our sore arms lifted half the stack and it all went well. “Time for the other half of the huge stack of paper.”
We picked it up, and took it over to the other stack of paper nice. Together we placed it neat on the shelf. When we lifted the colorful paper and all the sudden: OWW,BOOM and CRASH.
The paper fell all over me! I got paper cuts and scratches. Kylie helped pick up the paper and asked if I was ok. We worked so hard and now we have to start all over again. To me Kylie is a great friend for helping with the paper incident of 2016!

When I first got to BizTown, we sat down and had a meeting in town square. They asked all the CFOs to head to their businesses. As the CFO of BZTV, I got to sit down at my desk, start working on my computer, and printed everyone's payroll checks. I accidentally looked at a different manual that was a practice one from the school. It listed all fake bills numbers to be paid that I did, but was not supposed to. The lady from the head of BizTown came into my office as I happily celebrated getting my bills done. She asked me what I was doing. I told her that I finished paying my bills, but she didn't understand how that was possible since I hadn't received any invoices. I said, "What?!?" and stared at her in disbelief. She told me that I had looked at the wrong manual and showed me the correct one. I spent the next 15 minutes trying to cancel all my checks. Finally, when I finished, I waited and waited for the invoices to come, but they never came. The only thing that came was an invoice from UPS that said I had to buy supplies from them. It turns out that our ad executive lost our invoices so we never had time to pay them. All this time, I was feeling scared, my legs were tingling and I could barely walk...but I still had to run around and get my job done.

When I got back from break, there was a huge stack of invoices to be paid, bigger than the first stack, at my desk. I had to do all of them, including the first stack. I quickly rushed through the first stack and then I made it halfway through the second stack when most of the companies came to me demanding that I pay these bills. I felt freakishly scared because the bill collectors demanding payment didn't realize how hard I was working.  Then, Alen, the ad executive, dumped a bunch of checks from other companies onto my desk. I had no idea what I was supposed to do with them. I finally realized that I was supposed to deposit them at the bank to pay off our loan. I started to separately print each deposit ticket and ran to Key Bank to deposit them. The bank teller didn't know what to do; the CFO didn't know what to do. The CEO kindly accepted my payment. I was excited that I was finally getting somewhere with paying off the loan. BUT, around 5 minutes later, the lady in charge of BizTown came back, holding the checks. She said they were invalid. When I asked her why, she said, "Because you were supposed to combine all of the deposit tickets onto one deposit ticket and then turn it in. I threw away those deposit slips and starting printing new ones, working out all the checks correctly.

At the end of the day, we were $73 short of paying off our loan. But, because of the TV station running throughout the town, we received $120 and were able to pay off our loan and netted a profit of $56 (which can go a long way in BizTown). I was super excited, but I also felt exhausted! I  Q'sappreciated my dad a lot more.

On the bus ride home, the two boys I was sitting next to were screaming and yelling and shouting in weird voices...so I was never able to sleep like I had hoped. It wasn't until I got home that I was able to eat my lunch because my day at BizTown was so busy. Overall, I loved working as CFO of BZTV. I have made the decision to work hard in life and never give up.

Brave Snapshot- Abigail (3rd Grade) #1

Being Brave!!!

By Abigail

3rd grade, Mrs Aaberg

“Abigail, pack up, you’re going home,” my teacher said.   I knew I was going to the doctor. My mom was waiting in the office when I got there.
“Where is your brother?” she asked. Right then My brother, Isaac, came running in. We dropped Isaac off at piano before I went to the doctor.
As I drove there, I felt like nothing was going to happen because I didn’t know what was coming.
At the doctor, my mom had to fill out a form to check in. When they called my name, I went into the room and laid on the bed. The nurse introduced herself to us. She told us the doctor had a substitute today, then she left the room. A few minutes later, the doctor came in. “Hi,” she said, “I am the substitute for the doctor. The nurse will numb your hand.” Then she left.
“What?” I asked my mom. “What does she mean about numbing?” I felt scared because I had no idea what was happening. I thought, “Is it going to hurt? Is she going to put a cream on it?” My mind was spinning.
The nurse came in with a tube of something. “This will help you with the shot.”
“SHOT!?” I thought. “How big is the shot?” I asked.
“Do you want to see it?” asked the nurse. My mom said “no,” but I said “yes.” The nurse pulled a shot out of her pocket. She said it was the smallest shot they had. I looked at it, and it didn’t look very bad. I was still so scared because I didn’t like needles.
“Can you tell me what is going to happen, step by step?” I asked.
“Oh, of course,” said the nurse in an I was going to do that already voice.
I clutched my mom’s hand and faced her. The nurse held my hand and said, “Okay, I am going to do it now.” I closed my eyes and squeezed my mom’s hand with my other hand. It did hurt, but when the nurse started talking to me, it took my mind off of the shot.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the nurse took the needle out and said, “You’re done.”
“Yeah,” I thought, “now I get to go.” But, a few minutes later the doctor came in and said, “Okay, now it’s time for the surgery.”
I thought, “Surgery!?” My mind was screaming. I felt like I was going to cry. The doctor said I wouldn’t feel anything because I was numbed, but I was still very afraid.
Before I knew it, I was laying down with my hand up above my head as they were cutting a chunk of my hand. My mom almost passed out as she watched. The doctor said, “This might smell a little weird,” as she picked up a tool. I didn’t smell anything, but eventually realized it was the smell of burning flesh. It was mine!
When I finished, the doctor let me look at it. “Wow,” I thought when I was looking at it, “I went through a lot and I was very brave.” I was so brave, I asked for some stickers. She told me I could have two, so I got one for me and one for Mrs. Krueger.

Kindness Snapshot- Annabelle #2

The Girl on the Track
By Annabelle Thome

It is cold and and I don’t even get why I go out here. I have no friends to play with. I didn’t like going out to recess. Can you blame me? I didn’t have any friends to hang out with. I did not have anyone to just talk with. Everyone had their groups, I had myself. One day I was walking on the track by myself. I saw a girl just like me, by herself. I thought she wanted to be alone. But, I thought that maybe she would want some company. So, I jogged over to ask her if she wanted company. To this very day I am so glad that she said yes. Just a couple days ago she told me that she was inspired by my kindness. She was going to do the same.
The moral of this true story is that kindness spreads. If you can be nice maybe someone else would be too.

Patience Snapshot- Isaac #1

“My word is patience,” announced Joey “can you say it?”

“Patience.” The class repeated.

“Can you spell it?”

“P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E”

“Patience is the the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.” Explained Joey.

He continued but Elroy tuned him out. He could not stand still. Elroy could smell lunch. He looked at the clock. Tick Tick Tick, 21 more words to go and 20 minutes and 45 seconds to go. 19 words and 17 minutes and 38 seconds to go. Then finally ten nine eight seven, Elroy’s hand twitched. Six five four, Elroy could not stand it. He pushed in his blue chair and ran out of the classroom. His shoes slipped. Seconds later he was in the principal’s office. That day Elroy learned that patience  plays an important role in his life.

Over the next few days Elroy used patience in all the things he did. He ended up making a new friend and is now not known as the kid who could never wait.

“Patience is the the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.”

That is the word of the month.
